Hello, I have Windows 11 and the latest Word.
I have written a book and am trying to number the pages without numbering the blank ones. I followed videos on YouTube and, no matter what I do, the blank pages keep getting numbered. I've removed the blanks, re-inserted them and it just renumbers everything including the blanks. I've clicked on the 'blank page' function to insert one. I've created a separate Word document and inserted with the same result. I've experimented with the 'link to previous' and 'same as previous'. I've put in Section Breaks beforehand and they either get ignored or, if they work, when I try numbering the pages afterwards the numbers then go back to include the blank pages. Can anyone help? |

Inserting a Section break does not of itself stop page numbering. To do that, you would also need to unlink the relevant headers/footers from the previous Section and delete the PAGE fields in the new Section.

Okay, I've gone to 'insert', then 'quick parts' then 'field' scrolled down to 'Page' and there's no delete option. I've put a section break above the new section but the previous blank page still gets numbered.

That is not what I said to do...
You simply select the PAGE field and press the Delete key. Simple as.

I've gone to new section – can't find any 'Page field' to delete.

If that is not the cause of your problem you'll need to attach an extract of the document so we can do more that just guess. |

If you can see a page # in the header/footer, that's where the PAGE field is. Simply select and delete it.
