The OP's sample file also includes a SEQ field in which "(" is being used as an identifier. Often it helps to have the identifier as a caption label as well, for the purpose of creating cross-references for example. I covered the addition of brackets around numbers in the other thread at https://www.msofficeforums.com/word/...-brackets.html.
