Windows 7 64bit turn off Mini toolbar to format text on single word selection

Thank you for your comment, but I said I had gone to File > Options > General > User Interface options > Show Mini Toolbar and I still got the toolbar when I highlighted ONE word. (Granted, I just italicized it, not all-caps)

Any ideas?
