Mail Merge document shows the same picture on each document
I created an MS Word document with MS Word 2021. Knowing that Mailmerge doesn't work too well with the newer version, I did my text layout (ID #, Name, Phone, etc) and saved the document with a ".doc" extension. I then went to my "Mailmerge" tab and started the mailmerge process. I added my recipient list created in Excel. There is a column that has ".jpg" photos. I want to create the document as an Email document with each document including the members profile along with their photo. The way I created the code for the photo was to use the "Input", "Pictures", find the pictures folder and choose one of the pictures. In lieu of clicking insert, I used the "Link to file". I named the "INCLUDE" name as "Image". I then hilighted the "Image" word and went to Mailings and inserted a Mergefield (Picture). After the Alt+F9's and CTR+A and then F9's, I see the photo I used. To make the photo change with each document, I read that once you finish final merging, you click CTRL+A and then F9 again and then the photos were supposed to change to each photo for each record. However, that doesn't work. I keep seeing the same photo on each record. Can someone please help me? Thank you! |

Mail Merge works just as well with the new system.

I am still having the problem.
Let me say what I am exactly trying to do. I want to build an email to all my members with their profile (Name, Badge #, phone #, photo, etc. I create the basic wording, I start the mail merge, click on the recipients and insert the field names. To insert the picture, I have tried "Insert", "Pictures", the picture I want and in lieu of clicking "Insert" that picture, I click on "Link to file". I then go into that statement and hilight the just picture name (e.g., 007.jpg) leaving the ".jpg" unhighlighted and click on "Insert Fieldname" and click the field name (in my case, Picture). The picture appears when I finish the merge, however, when I click "CTRL" + "A" and then click "F9", the same picture that I originally clicked on appears on all records. |

You need the file name for each picture as part of your data file, a different file name for each record, perhaps. Read Graham's article.
You would have an IncludePicture Field in your primary merge document with the merge field identifying the picture file as the filename in the IncludePicture Field. |

Still having trouble with emailing member profiles that includes their photo. I downloaded the Graham Mayer "Mail Merge with Graphics" Add-In and the Graham Mayer "Mail Merge Graphics" detail, read both articles and loaded the Add-In into MS Word 2021.
I then created another document, started the mail merge as an email document and inserted the Mergefield items. I clicked where I wanted to load the photo and clicked on "Insert Graphics Merge Field" (the Graham Mayer Add-In). I clicked on the picture I wanted and clicked on "Complete Graphics Merge" (again the Graham Mayer Add-In). I immediately got an error code. (See attachment) |

You may need to use Doug Robbins' Merge Tools, which should work with the same files. MergeTools Add-In Page (Doug Robbins, MVP)

What I have done is go thru the Mail Merge Process and created PDF files showing the results of each procedure. I then put all those PDF files together into one PDF file. I have attached that PDF file to this email.
I believe I'm doing everything correctly, but I think I'm missing some little link within that process. Maybe someone can help me! |

\c Converter Identifies the graphics filter you want to use. Use the file name of the graphics filter without the .flt file name extension; for example, type pictim32 for the Pictim32.flt filter. I do not know if this parameter makes sense. what kind of image file do you want to insert? |

How do i determine "graphic filter". I am using photos that were color photos, but I converted them to "gray scale 8 bit". All my photos have the file name extension of ".jpg".

File paths usually only have single path separators, e.g.: C:\Users\clroc\Documents\etc
not double as you have in your Excel file. |

Okay, folks! I finally got my email messages with photos working. I found a Mail Merge software add-in for MS Word called "OnMerge". It works beautifully. If anyone else needs the software and how to work it, let me know. It took a while to figure it out, but once I did, it works like a breeze.
