Turn off the option in AutoCorrect to use suggestions from the spelling checker.
Turn on Spell Checking as you type.
Develop and use a character style for your special terms that tells Word to not proof them. Creating "No proofing" styles in Microsoft Word - No Spell Check character style and Code paragraph style - keep text from being checked for spelling or grammar
