Default Word 2010 won't stop changing text to Times when pasting, no matter what I set as default

Word ( Office Professional 2010) on Windows 10 won't stop changing the last few lines of text in a paragraph to Times New Roman when pasting. This happens both within the same document & when pasting from other documents. This continues to occur no matter what I change the default font to ( currently Arial 12) & no matter what I click on or off in the advanced font dialogue box. What's really weird is that its only the last couple lines, not the whole paragraph. Any suggestions?
