I have the document similar to this

] is the tag in our document.

when we keep typing i can see the paragraph marks

Typing extra text
something i type and click Enter
Typed some text]

when i place the cursor before ] and press "backspace" then i can only delete "Typed some text"

how do i go back to "something i type and Enter"?

And fyi document is protected based on role

We usually can't see how the content is protected when you only give us a screenshot but it is likely that the content is a 'content control' which has a number of settings that might protect it and its content.

This page created by Greg Maxey has a good introduction to Content Controls and it includes information about user restrictions which might be the issue with your doc.

If this isn't the issue, you will need to attach a sample document so we can find out what type of protection is applied to it.

we have add-in to install so you wont be able to see the document properties. please share your thoughts on why i am unable to back to previous line from the tag "]".

Can someone suggest solution?

I have no trouble editing text in any of your Content Controls. The Content Controls all have the property set that they cannot be deleted.
