Preventing Word inserting unwanted frames around text
I am trying to create a template for precedure documents using styles etc.
I am having problens with word putting everything in frames, especially all the headings. This can result some peculiarities in layout that I don't want. I have tried modifying the headings but it only seems to be possible to change the settings on the heading not to ensure they are not applied. Even after removing all frames manually, a return after a heading will result in a frame around the following normal text. Is there any way of preventing frames being put in automatically? |

Frames don't 'just' happen. Perhaps you are applying a style which has a frame included with it.
If you apply a style and a frame appears/disappears then you can see what style has a frame setting. So you can modify that style to remove the frame. If you can't work it out, post a sample document and someone can have a look and work out where the frame is coming from.

Are you sure that these are not text boundaries? If they are they will be around every paragraph in Word but will not print.
Here is my page on Frames and Textboxes in Microsoft Word. If these are Frames, I would start with the Normal style and see if they accidentally got into that style. Directions for modifying a style for Frames are on the linked page. A sample document with the problem would help. Attach a Sample File Demonstrating the Problem - Here's How |

I think that i have worked this out. My problem was that I can't find any way to remove a frame from the style in the style settings.
However I have found that if I apply the style, remove the frame then update style to match selection it removes it. But if I go anywhere near the Frames tab in the style settings it attaches frames again. Not intuitive. |

If you go to the Frame dialog under the Modify Style dialog's Format, you get a button to remove the frame.
