Default How to set date picker pop-up calendar to current month?

Hi,

I have created a letter template that includes date-pickers with pop-up calendars. The template is designed to communicate work schedules on a current and ongoing basis, but the calendars appear to be linked to the publish date(s) of the various iterations of this template.

Is there a straightforward way to override this to force the calendars to open and display the current month and year, rather than 6+ months in the past? Any advice is appreciated, to help me stop banging my head against the wall.

Thank you so much!
