The numbers of the equations should be Captions.
For Equation Captions on the same line, see How to Create Captions for Equations. Especially for Equations, see: Section 7 Captions and cross-references | Microsoft Word for the Social Sciences

Hello Charles, first of all, I want to thank you again for helping me with my problems. Secondly, I would like to apologize for my poor English: I misunderstood your question about captions. I didn't use captions, but numbered list items of multi-level lists. Third, after following the links you posted, I found a way to place my numbers on the right side of the page. I use tables with two cells and put the number in the right cell. This works well but is a lot of work since the paper is 30 pages long. So if you have any hint on how to do the work with less effort, I would be very grateful. If not, thanks anyway. Ganz herzlichen Dank!
