Hi! I have a report template that I use regularly to create a show report for a theatre I work at. I have subheading and auto resizing text fields for input etc, and an auto updating date field. which is all great, but I would love to have an auto updating time field that updates between two specific times in relation to the time the report is being written.
For example if the report is being written after the 200 pm show, at 5 pm say, the time field would update and show 2 pm. but if it was being written at 11 pm for the 730 pm show, it would update to show 730 pm. Is there a way to do this without using a combobox or implicitly changing the times myself? Thanks in Advance! |

This would likely better be handled with a Macro.
However, it can be done with fields. I would suggest that you prepare a template, rather than updating some document. Then use a CREATEDATE field as the basis. That will update each time you create a new document based on the template. You can get times from any of the date fields using a hh:mm picture switch. You would be using an IF Field to test the time generated in the CREATEDATE and then give you either 7:00 p.m. or 11 p.m. as a result. Again, a macro would probably be simpler. Even simpler would likely be two templates. Pick the one you want to use. I know you said you are using a template. The word "template" means something different in Word than it does in general English. |
