If you are using the Normal style for all your body text paragraphs, you can search for the Normal style and replace with No Spacing.

Press Ctrl+H to display the Find & Replace dialog box. Click the More button to see all options. Click in the "Find what" box and click Format > Style to locate the Normal style. Similarly, click in the "Replace with" box and specify the No Spacing style.

Click Replace All to complete the replacement.

Thank you for making the effort to explain so clearly your instructions.

However they did not quite do what I wanted. I still needed to do the extra editing.

Strangely, when I tested it out again the format options looked different. I could no longer see Normal and No Spacing but a new list starting (no style), then Heading 4 Char etc

The "char" addition is a remainder of an old bug where Word created character style versions of its built-in paragraph styles. You should see the correct style name as well. Sometimes, you have to scroll down the list (it won't necessarily be in alphabetical order).
