![]() I have numbers in my essay where I have something I got from a certain book. The books are listed and numbered in my biography. I want to chose which number to write and for it to go small and above the end of a word. |

You will have to clarify what you are trying to do.
Are you perhaps referring to footnotes or endnotes?

Or perhaps citations in a bibliography?

I have a 10,000 plus word essay I have written by hand and at the end there is a biography of 54 books all numbered and named. When I have mentioned something I have found in a particular book I have put its number up small above at the end of the part like an indeces (or the number you get with a footnote). Is it possible to insert each number in miniature manually in my Word document.? Or is there a better way of doing this using the References menu?
(When I have tried endnotes I can't get ordinary numbers to come out!) |

I think you mean bibliography. Word has a feature for that, which I have not used.
Anyway, if you are using automatic numbering for your list of books, you can cross-reference those numbers and can use the footnote reference character style or something similar to do that. If these books are the only endnotes you would be using, you could use the endnote feature and tell word to use numbers rather than letters or symbols. |

If you're using a Bibliography, you should use one of the recognized referencing formats instead of creating something of your own. Word has built-in tools for doing that referencing in a consistent manner. Moreover, the convention for superscripted numbers in a document is that they refer to footnotes or endnotes, not to bibliography entries.
