Word document containing linked Excel spreadsheet is not updating

Good morning,

I have a word document into which I have embedded (?) an Excel spreadsheet. I have linked the two and in Options, Advanced, General, I have ticked "update automatic links at open".

However, when I amend and save the spreadsheet and open the Word document, that doesn't show the updated figures. I have to right click to update the link.

Not a massive problem, but I wonder why it doesn't happen automatically.
