I have a main Word document, from which I have to extract some text and cross reference them in another Word document; and have it updated as needed.
I've tried inserting a cross-reference, but it works only for the text in the same document; can't get it to point to another doc. With Hyperlink couldn't get any updates. How can I do that? Can do VBA, if required. Many thanks in advance |

For that, you insert an INCLUDETEXT field in the destination document that references the applicable bookmark in the source document. For more details, see: https://www.msofficeforums.com/158485-post6.html

Paul, many thanks for your quick reply and apologies for my late reply. Long weekend here in Germany!
It seems to work well; however the update doesn't seem to work. I am using Office 365 German Version. Both files are in the same folder. |

I couldn't get it to update yesterday; thus the statement "doesn't seem to work".
Today, it works like a charm! Can't figure out what's going on; but it works now. Many thanks again. Cheers |
