Hello, so I've created a hanging indent in one of my styles, but for some reason the 0.25 gap does not apply. As seen in the screenshot below, the gap is visible on the style modification tab. What could be the problem?

For styles attached to numbering, you need to change these indents in the MultiLevel List dialog. See How to create numbered headings or outline numbering in Ribbon Versions of Word by Shauna Kelly

I did all that but for some reason the 0.25 gap just doesn't apply. If i change it to, for example, 0.4 it will work..

Setting of .25 does not allow room for your number!

So what am I supposed to do to fix it ?

Use a smaller font or use a tab stop of .4.

But why does the same exact thing work with 0.25 in a different file. The same settings are applied

These can be mm settings. In any case, I see the same problem in your second sample.

What I'm trying to achieve is to have the same spacing between number and the text in both styles. In sample 1, for some reason, having 0.25 ends up having completely no gap between number and text, but in the sample 2, having the same exact settings, there is a gap between numbering and text. I still can't figure out how to fix it, been a headace for a few days now..

Use a right-tab setting following the number. See Suzanne's page.
