Hello, so I've created a hanging indent in one of my styles, but for some reason the 0.25 gap does not apply. As seen in the screenshot below, the gap is visible on the style modification tab. What could be the problem?

For styles attached to numbering, you need to change these indents in the MultiLevel List dialog. See How to create numbered headings or outline numbering in Ribbon Versions of Word by Shauna Kelly

Use a smaller font or use a tab stop of .4.

But why does the same exact thing work with 0.25 in a different file. The same settings are applied

These can be mm settings. In any case, I see the same problem in your second sample.

Use a right-tab setting following the number. See Suzanne's page.
