Word has never been good at keeping the exact same pagination and changing versions of Word is not going to improve the situation.
Is this on the same machine with the same printer driver selected for both applications? Is the version of the typeface exactly the same on both machines? Is the version of Windows the same on both machines? In addition to font version metrics, Word lays out the document by using the printer driver metrics which determines how the font characters are spaced. Which means you need to ensure that exactly the same printer driver is used on both machines. Then there are subtle layout settings which could have changed when changing versions of Word. Justified text can line wrap at different places due to these settings (some of which are not visible via the GUI). The ONLY way to have complete confidence that your document layout won't change when changing machines is to export the file to PDF.

Thanks Guessed
When I enlarged individual characters to 200 point and compared, the 2019 version is slightly smaller and has a narrower aspect ratio. There is also a subtle difference in some character shapes. It is as if it were a different font. Just to make sure, I changed the font to Times Roman and the results are identical in both Word versions. |
