I already have my front and back cover, each as a separate file made using PowerPoint. I understand that MS Word has a feature which will join the front and back cover files into one file, and allow the user to create a spine as well.
Have been searching both this forum and online, but most sites deal with designing the cover and I do not need help with that. I just need a how-to for what I described above. |

I assume that what you want is the three sides to all print as one sheet and that the book is of a size where this can be done.
You could create a document in landscape orientation and insert a three-column table with no borders. Size the three columns to be your covers and spine. Then insert your graphics. You might do best saving your PowerPoint slides as high-resolution pictures and inserting them into the Word file. Make sure you tell Word to not reduce the resolution. This is not something I have done, I am describing how I would go about it. Publisher might be a better pick than Word. |

Word doesn't have a feature that would join page spreads into single pages. Perhaps you are thinking about doing it in PDF format where these post-production features exist.
If you did your cover artwork in Powerpoint then you should have done the back/spine/front with cropmarks as a single graphic in that software. Book cover artwork shouldn't be included in the same file as the internals of the book. The paper size it is printed on won't match the internal pages of the book and will not be printed on the same stock. If you want to include the cover artwork then just use the cropped front cover to match the other pages.

Many thanks for both of your replies. After studying what you have expressed here and looking into the options or making the cover file in Power Point, it is indeed looking like Power Point may be the best format for this work. I shall try it there first and see if I get the needed result.
