Do you have Private Use Area in your Word - use of private characters
Gabriola and Segoe UI have them starting at E000 unicode in Symbols (most fonts don't have Private Use Area at all). I believe this is where Private characters are supposed to be stored. I cannot enter private characters into Word.

Why does Word not allow me to use private characters?
They insert as a blank, tofu, or a glitch (or in some fonts--ones with other glyphs in the "Private Use Area"--as another character)

This is in response to your two questions which could be in one post. I have merged them here.
I do not know that anyone here is familiar with "private characters." I know that I am not. |
