Default Problems with apostrophe key when typing (appearing wrong)

Hello,

I was working on my manuscript in Word earlier today, I copied and pasted a foreign word (German if it matters any), and now my apostrophe key is coming out as a double comma (as in, the lower part of the line, not upper). If I press the key a second time that comes out normal (in terms of where it should appear on the page). Even if I manually delete out the wrong looking apostrophe, I then have two beginning apostrophes, not one to denote the opening of the sentence and the closing of the sentence.

I did attach a screenshot to show you what I mean.

Thanks in advance for your help!
