Acrobat can be flaky with fonts at times; sometimes WYSIWYG is more like What you see is almost what you get. [Cue Maxwell Smart saying "Missed it by THAT much."]

Could you post the original word doc and the PDF, trimmed down to what we can see in the screen shots? That way we can look at the actual fonts being used.
