I'm not sure you're phrasing the question correctly. When Word recovers a document, it opens the document so that you can decide whether to save or discard the recovered document.

Did you close Word without saving the recovered document?

When I recover a word document it doesn’t open it, I see a list of recovered documents! I would like to send you a screenshot but in don’t know how.

In the recovery pane, click the document you want to open.
