The message suggests that at least one text range (= a sequence of one or more text characters) has been marked with "Do not check spelling and grammar" formatting (found in the Language dialog box).

Thank you Stefan. I will start a new thread, however, I cannot see where there is any text marked as do not check. I suspect, altho I haven't counted, that it is only analyzing my footnotes. 71 words sounds about right for that.

Stefan: the language box is showing English as selected, but it doesn't show anything other than additional languages. Is there a way to find what text has been marked as do not check?

Even if there is, I don't see how it is possible that 2700 other characters have been marked with do not check.

Also, I also get the option whereafter it runs one check, it asks if I want to check the remainder of the document. I have tried saying yes, and then the word count checked goes up to 79.
