I think I might go with the Floating Object and group after all. The reason is that I can move the picture around with the text adjusting real-time and I can fine tune it.

But with the single-cell table, I can't do that. The table does not move as smoothly as the picture and the text does not move intuitively around the object as I am holding the mouse button down.

If I run into an error where the picture really misbehaves in the text I might opt for it. Unless if you think there are any benefits that out weight the advantages using the single cell table?
