Default Searching for the ° (Degree Sign, Alt+0176)

When I copy files from an internet web page into Word I often get a degree sign ( ° ) (or Alt+0176) when I look at the Word file. The sign mostly occurs just ahead of a paragraph mark but it can also appear many times elsewhere in the document.

I've searched the options found under "Edit > Find" and have tried copying the degree sign and searching for it, and I have looked at the Special and the Format options but have not been successful in finding out how to search for it.

Can somebody please help me out here?

This can also be a non-breaking space.
Ctrl+Shift+Spacebar.

Thank you for the tip.

Searching for "Non-breaking space" finds some of them, but not all. I can copy the ° and if I could figure out what code it is, maybe I could find them with the Find function.

Any other suggestions?

Do these print or do they just show as a space when you print?
If as a space, try simply replacing space with space.

Can you attach a sample file with the problem?

Have you tried copying one of them and pasting it into the Find box?

You can work out its ASCII value by selecting it and opening your VBA editor and typing this into the Immediate Window and pressing Enter
? Asc(Selection.Text)

If the character is part of the expanded ASCII set you might need
? AscW(Selection.Text)
