for wildcards is there a keyboard shortcut to quickly disable/enable it without having to open ctrl+

If there isn’t an optin for this in words settings, any alternative way to do it? Eg using some automation software like AHK?

Ctrl+H, Alt+U is a toggle for use wildcards in a search … but I don't understand "open ctrl+" in your question.
