Default Closed Word file when I *thought* that AUTOSAVE was ON, lost THREE DAYS of work.

By closing a Word file when I *thought* that AUTOSAVE was ON, I lost THREE DAYS of editing work.

MS Word > File > Manage Documents > Unsaved Versions brings up NOTHING.

WHY does AUTO-SAVE deactivate itself, without warning, *while I am editing* Word docs.??

WHY didn't I receive an 'AUTOSAVE INACTIVE' prompt when I closed the file?

WHERE are my revisions?

WHAT am I paying for in 'Office 365'???
