Default bold (or unbold) section of text instead of bold toggling

Is there an easy way to turn bold on or off for an entire section of text? Ctrl-B (or clicking B in the toolbar) toggles bold, but if some text is already bold and some is not and I want to change everything to be one or the other, it can be time consuming.

Is it possible to change the behavior of Ctrl-B so the first time I click it bolds (or unbolds) everything selected instead of toggling everything? It seems like I've seen that behavior, but maybe it was in another tool.

Thanks!
