Default Trouble using a drop-down field for Word on a Chromebook

I am having trouble using a drop-down field for a Word document on a Chromebook.

The Office applications are downloaded on our work Chromebooks. On a windows computer the document works just fine. When we open the document on a Chromebook it is no longer a drop down to make a selection. It is just a text box saying "click here to choose item below". When you click it does nothing?

Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks for the help!
