I very much like Word 2003. I had toolbars all over the place.
If you do have to post any questions about Word 2003, remember to note that in the post.

However, the Ribbon versions are also very much customizable, but you have to really work at it; definitely not simple.

The QAT is pretty simple but to do good things with the Ribbon takes extra skills.
They made the UI harder to customize at the request of IT Nazis in corporate America.

It was a lot of work, but now I can change the menus just by creating/deleting/moving templates.
