Right-click on it.
It should give some actions. The darkest one is the default action. What is it? Is that true of another template? If the default action is Open rather than New, for all templates, then I would try Quick Repair (takes 5 - 10 mins) , if that doesn't help then try Online Repair (Takes more than 30 mins but less than 1 hour in general) https://support.office.com/en-us/art...e-a6b40c5bb88b If it is the default for this template but not others, I would open the template and use File > Save As to save it as a dotx template again. |

Replying Because I am having the same issue. Right clicking a .dotx file shows "Edit" as the darkened default option. Right clicking an excel template (.xltx) has "New" as the default option and opens a new spreadsheet as desired.
I already ran quick repair (no effect) and plan on running online repair tonight when I leave work. Using Windows 10 Pro and Office 365. |
