Normal.dotm not normal.dot.
You should not need macros for this.
Use Insert Symbol to assign keyboard shortcuts.





To use the unicode numbers, you type the number and press Alt+X. Otherwise you can assign your own shortcuts using the button on the dialog.



I would recommend storing these in a separate Global Template but storing in the normal template should do it.


You could also assign an AutoCorrect entry to each and type something like xdiamond to be replaced by the diamond symbol.
