I have received a form to be filled out and asked to include some numbers in provided boxes, as well as checked box. However, while document editing does not show as restricted in any way that I can see, and text, including supplied form text, can be edited in most places, the Development tab allows only legacy items--the rest are grayed out--and the boxes into which one is supposed to write digits are simply black character or symbol boxes.
I have work-arounds for both, but I can't figure out where the protection against the usual Developer controls is hiding. Design mode is not on, although available, but turning it on appears to make no difference. |

I'm guessing that the file is in doc format. Content Controls don't work unless the file format is Word 2007+. For example docx, docm etc

Guessed indeed! That's exactly the problem; I should have noticed.
Thank you. |
