Template fields pane opens with Word doc

I use many Word documents which are stored on a Shared drive. Recently, some, but not all of the documents will open between 1 and 20 panes with the title of Template Fields. These are all blank, but when there is a lot of them I must close them to see the actual document.


I have not been able to figure out how to get rid of them.
Note: "Show the Start screen when this application starts" is unchecked.
