Hello, I'm still having trouble with page numbers. I've abandoned using roman numerals in front matter, but am still have trouble in the section where arabic numbers start. Fro example the second page says it's an Odd Number page. I have not found any way to correct this. Of course, it means I can't get the page numbers to work properly. Also, page 3 is auto numbered 6 and the next odd page is numbered 3 and I can't change it.
Do I need to start a whole new document? Thanks, MDawn Last edited by Charles Kenyon; 09-20-2018 at 09:00 AM. Reason: Mark as solved |

Your description suggests you've used an odd-page Section break instead of a simple Next Page Section break or an even-page Section break.

You do not need to restart your document.
See Numbering Front Matter by Suzanne Barnhill, MVP There is no need to abandon Roman numerals for your front matter, either. The following tool may help you: Word Toolkit for Advanced Management of Headers and Footers Here is my page on Sections / Headers and Footers in Microsoft Word (Ribbon Versions) |

Hello All,
Thanks for your great responses! I had not received these yet, so I started over in a new Word document and created the styles I wanted and started the page number in Arabic number from the first page. That worked well and eliminated the problem with Section Breaks, etc. Thanks again. I'm going to use this knowledge for the next version of some documents. MDawn |
