Default Trouble with page numbers

Hello, I'm still having trouble with page numbers. I've abandoned using roman numerals in front matter, but am still have trouble in the section where arabic numbers start. Fro example the second page says it's an Odd Number page. I have not found any way to correct this. Of course, it means I can't get the page numbers to work properly. Also, page 3 is auto numbered 6 and the next odd page is numbered 3 and I can't change it.

Do I need to start a whole new document?

Thanks,
MDawn
