![]() I saw another question that was about a (I assumed) a solid line that someone couldn't get rid of, and it turned out to be a border, etc. thing. This line is not acknowledged in the markings when I turn that on, it will not delete when I back space, and I cannot put my cursor on it--or near it. If I try, it goes into the text on the line above or below, depending on where I click. Any idea what they are, and how to exorcise these demons from my innocent document?? Honestly, if I can't get help, I'm going to try burning sage.... |

What you are describing could be a border. See http://wordfaqs.ssbarnhill.com/Troub...es.htm#Borders.

Thank you for the response.
I have investigated the "borders" idea, and I cannot find this particular evil among them. I have been using borders for years now, and I would think that I could manage that if it were one, but I will look again--I am forever surprised at the amount I don't know. |

Since you wrote that the line moves as you try to delete it by deleting the surrounding paragraphs, I concluded that border formatting was the most likely "culprit."
If you want to share an example document, you can attach it to a reply here. Click the Go Advanced button and then you'll find options for uploading attachments.

I'm sorry if I was unclear...and I've deleted the document. I had to recreate it...ugh.
It actually didn't move--at ALL. It's just that the cursor wouldn't let itself land near it. If I tried to click near it, the cursor would place itself to the nearest spot in the text. Jennifer* .............X(imagine the width of the entire in margin) Stefan ---If I tried to click at the end of it (X) with the bottom of my cursor at or above it, it would put the cursor at the end of the line of text above (*). Or if my cursor was slightly below, the same on the line of text below. It was a force field. Lol. |

If I tried to click in the middle, it would put the cursor at the corresponding place in the text--above or below, respectively.

Do these lines print?
If not, I expect what you are seening are Text boundaries. Google that. |

Note that text boundaries are discussed in Suzanne's article (http://wordfaqs.ssbarnhill.com/TroublesomeLines.htm).

I believe that it will be necessary for us to look at an example document in Word format. You should remove any sensitive text first, of course.
