Angry Word Doc - Corrupt and will not open (Tried Everything)

Hello,
I'm having a huge issue. A very very important word doc to my wife and it will not open. I am getting the dreaded "The file is corrupt and cannot be opened." pop up box.

We've tried everything that we could find online. Saving as different file type, using .zip to try and open just the text, changing permission options, etc...

We've also tried about a dozen different software programs that are supposed to fix/extract text from corrupt files.

Nothing has worked so far! The most we have now is the text showing up as small boxes, but nothing we've tried converts those boxes to meaningful text.

Hoping that maybe someone has another suggestion that we just haven't tried yet!

Thank you so much for any help.

If this document was on a USB stick that was removed without going through the 'safe removal' process, your chances of recovering anything meaningful are small indeed. Time to restore the file from a known good backup.
