How can I get user's text-input to appear in the footer?
Hello there,
I am working on a contract sample. Users will give each contract a number in the third line of the text. This contract number shall appear in the footer automatically. I guess that should work with form fields? Appreciate low-level explanation. Thank you,Oliver |

You can use a StyleRef Field or a Mapped Content Control.
See Repeating Data Using Document Properties Content Controls and Other Mapped Content Controls for more about Content Controls. Do not use legacy form fields unless you have a good reason. They do not play well with content controls. |

Depending on the document, that might instead be a reason not to use content controls. For example, content controls are not supported in Word 2003 & earlier on the PC, in Word 2011 & earlier on the Mac, or in the older .doc format. Content control checkboxes are also not supported in Word 2007 on the PC. In any event, a STYLEREF field linked to an appropriate Style should suffice for the OP's purposes.
