I have a rich text content control at the top of a form to enter an employee's name. How can I replicate the text entered on each page? I tried bookmarking it but there does not seem to be a way to bookmark these controls.
The form will be protected so putting it in the header won't work. |

I know of two free utilities to assist with mapping content controls.

Thanks! Those look like neat tools to add the controls. I still don't understand how to reference the value in the control. Bear with me...this is a depth to Word that I haven't delved into in a looooong time.
Perhaps you would be so kind to look at my doc. The very first control on top, where one enters the employee name, I would like replicated. I gave it the tag "EmployeeName". Now what? If you could just throw something in the header that would do it for me, I can take care of making it all pretty and perhaps can understand by looking at your example. Thanks in advance for humoring me. |

Linking to a Rich Text CC is not good. You should be using a Plain Text CC instead for something that only contains an employee name.
Using the tools linked earlier in the thread may also be overkill if you only want a single field linked. For that, I would recommend you adapt one of the existing built-in linked CCs by going to Insert > Quick Parts > Document Property > {Pick one that looks semi-relevant eg Manager}. You can edit the Title property of the CC to show up as Employee Name if you like.

These are used the same way as mapped controls. You create one and set it up the way you want. Then you copy and paste where you want the information replicated. Unlike the Ref field, this is a two-way connection and updates automatically. |
