So, I'm still having issues with the lag ... However I've discovered something interesting ...

The word documents for the calculations were using DDE field code before Microsoft disabled it, however now I'm using LINK field code in its place. I went into the registry to re-enable DDE to see if there was a difference in the time opening the documents and sure enough there was. DDE is far faster than LINK when opening documents ... Even when the templates are macro enabled.

So this begs the question, why is the LINK field code slower?
