if the home tab is selected the menu appears. With any action in the text the menu disappears.

Click on the little down arrow that appears at the right-hand end of the title bar. Alternatively, Ctrl-F1.

Didn't find down arrow but, found horizontal pin. After clicking it vertical menu stays down.

For future reference, it looks like this:

This is in Word 2013 and later.

(There is no Word 2015; there is Word 2016 and 365.)

When the is first pulled down in menu in Word 2016 the up arrow is not there. After the menu is pinned the up arrow reappears.

Here's what it looks like when the tabs are hidden, too. Then there is no title bar and no Account Info.


If the tabs are visible, you can simply double-click on a tab to make the full ribbon stick around.

Are you on a Mac? Things may look a bit different.
