Default How do I change the indent for numbering?

So I have a report with headings 1,2,3,4,5,6
I can get the line list style ok but I can't get things to align right. So with 6 headings things get pretty far to the left if I keep indenting. I want levels 1,2,3 to be indented just a space or two and 4,5,6 to be indented may 7 spaces and then 1 or two spaces per level. How do I do this?
