For a style Heading 1, I see this: Font: (Default +Headings (Calibri), 11 pt, Font Color: Background 1, All caps, Indent :left 10px, right: 10px Space
for other Headings like 2, 3, 4 the Font Color is Accent 2 (or three) I would like to be able to change the background color for styles to be different than the page color. How do I change and modify the Font Color: Background 1 Font Color: Accent color |

What you are seeing is the labeling of Theme colors.
Background 1 is simply a color. On my machine, in the current theme, it is white. If you chose that for your color you would have a white font, not necessarily a white background. You can have a background (called shading) if you want. When you modify the style, click on the Format button and choose shading. Understanding Styles in Microsoft Word |

I have been using word 2007, since 2007. I was unaware of themes. Thanks for taking the time to post and for the most excellent link. I need to update my knowledge of themes, style sets? and how to use CSS formatting for word docs.
this link helped go deeper on understanding what I was seeing. https://support.office.com/en-us/art...__toc341889143 Last edited by gmgj; 12-20-2017 at 03:55 PM. Reason: add link for more information for others |

I don't know themes. As for CSS, see:
