Default Increase gap between bottom line and top of footer

In my main text, the line at the very bottom seems too close to the top line of the footer. Is there a way to increase this gap? I use MS word 2007

i am talking about the most bottom line in the main text being too close to top of bottom margin. increasing or decreasing bottom margin will not make a difference for that. the gap between the bottom margin's top line and the main area's most bottom line of text must be more

Is it too close to the footer, or too close to the bottom margin? They are not the same thing.

The following article contains information on how header and footer margins work in Word: http://wordfaqs.ssbarnhill.com/Heade...r.htm#Creating.

i mean... do you know that thin line which separates the main area from the footer? (the upper border of footer = bottom border of main area). in other words, the line that separates footer from main area. that line i am talking about.

i am saying, the text at the main area, is too close to that line. how give some gap between the text in the main area and that line.

was i able to explain now? sorry for confusion i am not so good at terms...

You can increase the bottom margin. Or maybe you could add some Spacing Before to the first paragraph in the footer.

That distance is of no consequence; what matters is the distance between the body content and the footer content, which can be adjusted by varying the margin.
