![]() Hi Have a look at first photo attached: I have clicked on word 'About HAMMER'. As you see, it's style is 'Zir' highlighted. first question is why 'About HAMMER' is in black color in the document in spite of 'Zir' Style which is Yellow (see the top of the photo to see color of Zir style). Then I selected 'About HAMMER' (as you see in second photo). According to what Style Gallery shows, style of selected 'About HAMMER' is Heading 4. Second question is what is explanation of these change in Styles after and before selecting the word? Thanks. |

Sometimes additional formatting gets overlaid on a style, resulting in inconsistent behavior. If you select text and click twice on a style, ONLY the style formatting will remain. I selected HAMMER and reapplied the style, and it displayed correctly.
Another option is to open the Styles pane on the right--there is a Clear All option at the top that removes EVERYthing--it resets the selection to Normal (I think). Then you select the desired style. Hope this helps. |

I would agree that it appears to be direct formatting rather than a problem with the style.
I did not respond earlier because you made it too much work for me to look at your issue. The pictures scroll off my screen and most of the pictures are unnecessary to explain it. Most screen capture utilities include a way to limit what is shown or crop images. I have a wide-screen display on a 17-inch laptop. When I have to scroll to look at things, the reply buttons also are off the screen. I am a busy person and did not have time to deal with it earlier. It is also possible to use a floating window for Word to include disparate elements like the Quick Styles in the ribbon, the Styles Pane on the right, the Navigation pane on the left, and the content in the document that is involved. How to attach a screenshot or file in this forum. |
