Where did my created styles go in Word 2016

I'm an author and created some specific styles for my novel.
I just started a new story and the styles I created for the first one aren't in the styles list. How do I get them back?
I saw another post that said to use Manager, I found that and clicked on the import/export... but my style is still not showing up.
