I am using office 2007. When I enter a new record to merge into a letter it goes in random order in the data base. Its supped to be in the last place in the data base. This is important because I use the number as part of the account number to retrieve the record later. It just started doing this shortly after I hit record 1000.
For example: The first record entered into a blank data base would automatically be numbered 1. The second would be number 2 and so on. I am currently at number 1029 and when I enter a new record it could go to position 875 and each record beyond 875 advances one position, so what was 902 is now 903. The new entry should automatically be number 1030 but the data base randomly assigns the position. Has anyone experience this and/or know how to fix it? Thanks. ![]() |

Sorry, I've always used Excel for my records and added a row at the end.
