Remember, your printer must use PCL for the commands to work. This is sort of doing an end-run around the printer driver.

Hello

I am having the same problem and hope that someone can help me. Just to be completely clear about what the problem is, I have made some helpful pictures!

I have a 320 page thesis that has both portrait and landscape pages.

This first image is a simplified example of how the document appears when I view it in Word. It also appears the same way when I save it to a pdf and view it in acrobat:
Document layout.jpg
This second image is how it appears when the pdf is printed. The landscape pages have been orientated the wrong way:
Print orientation.jpg
This third image shows how I would like the document to appear when it is printed:
Desired layout.jpg
Simply rotating the physical printed pages by hand once the document is finished printing is unfortunately not an option, as the document will be bound and printed by a third party. I need to send them a pdf containing my thesis by e-mail, and this pdf must print correctly. Any help in achieving this would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks,
The Spith

I do not know whether this (rotate 90 degrees clockwise) is something in Word or is inherent in the printing of landscape orientation pages. I suspect the latter.

You can rotate them in the pdf if you have Adobe Acrobat or a similar application for manipulation of pdf files. This was noted in an earlier post. Note, this is talking about Adobe Acrobat, not Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Version 8.0 of Adobe Acrobat Pro is available for free download and works with Windows 10. It has a tool that lets you rotate pages. If you use Google to search, you will find it. Remember that the download page also gives the key for installation.

There may be a solution in Word, but if there is I am not aware of it. I do not know if the PCL codes I talked about earlier work on either printing as pdf or saving as pdf. If they do, though, you may get your landscape pages showing upside down when viewed on a computer or other device.
