Default Arrrrgghhh...word to PDF

Ok, there must be something basic and simple I am missing here but I have never done this and I just have to ask since I have wasted half of a day trying to convert a simple PDF to word and I keep getting JPGs for pages whatever online or offline service I use.

The PDF was initially made by converting from Word, so it's not an image PDF. I initially used UDC (Universal Document Converter) to convert from word to PDF. Now I have misplaced the file and I have just shortened my life by ignorantly trying to convert back to word and getting a bunch of JPGs every time..

Please help, anyone

You said the doc was simple... simple enough that you won't lose too much if you copy and paste?

No, Kim...I said that I am sure I am missing something simple and basic...but the document is actually filled with tables and graphs and it's crucial that it remains the same in terms of formatting...
